End Of Term Newsletter: Friday 27th March
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a truly fantastic term we have had at St Michael’s. It is hard to believe that we have already reached the end of the Spring Term, with just one term left of this academic year. We are incredibly proud of the progress our children have made academically, spiritually and personally. At St Michael’s, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who grow, learn and journey together with Christ, and this term has been a wonderful reflection of that vision.
We are already looking ahead with excitement to the Summer Term, which promises to be full of opportunities, enrichment and continued growth. You will find key dates for the Summer Term attached to this newsletter.
It has also been a particularly busy and successful week, with fundraising events taking place across the school. Earlier in the week, our Reception children took part in a one-mile sponsored toddle. With the whole school cheering them on, the children showed incredible determination and enthusiasm, raising over £700 - a fantastic achievement for our youngest pupils!
Years 1–6 took part in an egg and spoon challenge, raising over £2000 for their house charities. The event was filled with excitement, teamwork and plenty of laughter, and we were so impressed by the children’s effort and spirit throughout.
Year 6 have also been incredibly busy with their fundraising efforts. Their Spring Fair raised over £700 - an outstanding achievement for a completely pupil-led project. Their organisation, creativity and teamwork were truly commendable.
We are so proud of all our children. Their enthusiasm, kindness and commitment to making a difference are inspiring, and the funds raised will go on to support many worthwhile causes.
This week, children in Years 1, 3 and 5 visited St Michael’s Church to take part in the Easter Experience - a meaningful and reflective opportunity to explore the true meaning of Easter.
Across the school, children have continued to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm, demonstrating focus, resilience and a strong commitment to their learning.
We are delighted to share that a total of £417.50 was raised for Red Nose Day through our non-uniform day and cake sale last week - thank you to everyone who contributed.
During Collective Worship, we were pleased to welcome Katie from Empower, who reminded us of the meaning of Easter. She spoke about how Jesus is represented on the cross in different cultures and shared powerful images from around the world. We reflected on the idea that while God is perfect, humans make mistakes - and importantly, that mistakes are part of learning. School is a safe and supportive place where we can grow, improve and strive to do better each day.
This week’s pupil shoutout goes to an entire year group - Year 6. They have worked tirelessly to organise a Spring Fair, lead fundraising events and run a talent show. Whether working behind the scenes or confidently leading from the front, every single pupil has contributed and made us incredibly proud.
We also continued celebrating our Stars of the Week, recognising the effort, creativity and determination shown across the school. Congratulations to Olivia T and Leia H-S, who received the half-termly Headteacher’s Award! If your child has achieved something special outside of school, we would love to hear about it so we can celebrate together as a community.
Chapter 11 of The Mottlesnatch is attached, and we encourage all children to take part. Each entry earns five house points - well done to Edison House for winning the House Cup for the second week in a row!
