Weekly Newsletter: Friday 16th January
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had such a lovely and positive week in school, with the children settling back in brilliantly and throwing themselves into lots of exciting new learning. Across the school, classes have begun new topics and it has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and curiosity from the children as they explore new ideas. If you are already, do follow our Facebook page for regular updates!
Reception have been especially busy starting their new topic, People Who Help Us. We were incredibly lucky to welcome several visitors into school, helping to bring this learning to life. The highlight for many was getting to see an ambulance up close, which sparked lots of excitement, questions and fantastic discussions. The children were thoroughly engaged and gained so much from these real-life experiences.
This week during our Collective Worship, we focused on the theme of change and new beginnings, which felt particularly fitting at the start of a new year. The children listened to the story of Jesus and the fishing nets, learning how Jesus encouraged Simon Peter to cast his nets once more and trust in Him. Through this story, we reflected on how trying something new, even when it feels challenging, can lead to many rewards.
We also held our first Celebration Assembly of the term. It was lovely to see and hear about all the wonderful things our children are achieving both in and out of school. A special mention goes to Amelie, whose efforts in riding earned her a rosette for achieving ‘A Clear Round’ in jumping. Amelie shared how, despite falling off, she showed great determination by getting back on her horse and completing another round - a perfect example of our school value of resilience. These assemblies are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate children’s hard work, effort and achievements from the previous week. If your child has taken part in any special activities or achieved success outside of school, such as sports, music, clubs or community events, please do let us know so we can celebrate these together as a school community.
Chapter 2 of The Mottlesnatch is attached - please encourage your children to take part. All entries receive five house points. Shakespeare won the house cup last week, but who will take the trophy on Monday?
