Weekly Newsletter: Friday 1st May

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a joy it has been to experience a week filled with sunshine and smiles! The warmer weather has brought a wonderful energy to the school, and it has been especially lovely to see the children making the most of their time outdoors. Lunchtimes have been a real highlight - whether it’s football matches on the field, rolling down the hill, or simply enjoying time with friends, the children have embraced every moment. These shared experiences are so important in building confidence, friendships and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

During Collective Worship, we explored the theme of forgiveness. The children reflected on how holding onto negative feelings can affect us, and how choosing to forgive can help us move forward with a lighter heart. It was encouraging to see them making meaningful connections to their own lives, recognising the importance of kindness, empathy and understanding in building positive relationships.

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome Sheena from Empower. She led an engaging session focused on the story of the Tower of Babel, encouraging the children to think about the importance of humility and being true to who we are. Together, they explored the idea that we do not need to compete or try to be better than others, but instead should focus on being the person we are meant to be, valuing our own unique qualities and supporting those around us.

This week’s special recognition goes to Sarp in Year 6 - our fantastic Head Boy. Sarp consistently demonstrates kindness, thoughtfulness and leadership in all that he does. He takes the time to check in with others, greet people warmly and spread positivity throughout the school day. He is a wonderful role model and truly embodies the values we strive to promote. We are very proud of him - well done, Sarp!

Congratulations also to all of our Stars of the Week. These achievements reflect the hard work, creativity and determination shown by so many of our pupils. We were equally pleased to celebrate Erin, Amy and Katie for their sporting achievements outside of school. If your child has something they would like to share, we always love to celebrate these successes together.

Chapter 3 of The Mottlesnatch has now been released, and we encourage all children to take part. Each entry earns five house points - an excellent way to contribute to the House Cup. Well done to Mandela House for their win this week!

With the warmer weather continuing, please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day so they can stay hydrated.

Please feel free to share this with other families who may be interested.

As the week draws to a close, we hope you find time to relax and recharge in whatever way suits your family best - perhaps enjoying the outdoors or simply spending quiet time together. We are grateful, as always, for your continued support and the important role you play in your child’s journey through school.

“When we focus on being the person we are meant to be, rather than comparing ourselves to others, we build something far stronger together.”

Kind regards,
Mrs Louisa Sillett
