Weekly Newsletter: Friday 24th April
Dear Parents and Carers,
With the sunshine finally making a welcome appearance, it has been wonderful to see the children making the most of time outdoors - sharing laughter, building friendships and enjoying learning together on the field. This sense of togetherness has carried through into the classrooms, where there has been a real buzz of curiosity and determination. From our youngest children beginning their exciting exploration of minibeasts, to our oldest pupils preparing thoughtfully and confidently for their SATs, it has been a week full of meaningful learning across the school.
Today, our KS2 pupils enjoyed a real treat. The team from Google delivered an engaging workshop on staying safe online. We were also delighted to welcome our local MP, James Cleverly, who reinforced the important message to ‘Be Kind’. The Google team, who visit many schools, described our pupils’ behaviour as ‘exceptional’. They were particularly impressed by how thoughtfully and enthusiastically the children participated. It is always encouraging when visitors recognise the positive culture at St Michael’s. Days like this remind us how special our school community is.
This week we delighted to come together, on Wednesday, for our Easter service this week, led by Curate James and Rachel from St Michael’s Church. It was a special opportunity for reflection and celebration, and the children represented the school beautifully with their respectful participation.
This week’s special pupil recognition goes to Emeline C in Year 5. Emeline consistently demonstrates kindness, responsibility and a genuine willingness to support those around her. Whether helping a classmate or assisting an adult, she approaches everything with a positive attitude and quiet determination. Emeline, you are a valued member of our school community and your actions make a real difference - well done.
Congratulations as well to all of our Stars of the Week and our newly appointed reading leaders. These moments of celebration are always a highlight, allowing us to recognise the effort, creativity and resilience shown by our pupils. We were equally proud to celebrate George, Averie and Owen for their commitment to sporting achievements outside of school. If your child has something they are proud of beyond school, please do share it with us so we can celebrate together.
Chapter 2 of The Mottlesnatch has been shared, and we encourage all children to get involved. Each entry earns five house points - an excellent contribution towards the House Cup. Well done to Shakespeare for taking the win this week!
As the weather continues to warm up, children are now welcome to wear their summer uniform. We kindly ask that you check the school uniform guidelines to ensure consistency and help us maintain a strong sense of identity and pride across the school.

A gentle reminder to please be considerate when parking near the school. Ensuring that driveways remain clear and parking is safe helps us maintain positive relationships with our neighbours and keeps everyone safe at busy times of the day.
As we head into the weekend, we hope you are able to enjoy some restful time together -whether that’s outdoors in the sunshine or simply slowing down after a busy week. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership in your children’s learning journey.
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." - Ephesians 4:32
Kind regards,
Mrs Louisa Sillett
