Weekly Newsletter: Friday 27th February

Dear Parents and Carers,

WOW - What a week we have had with our unexpected water feature, experienced earlier this week. Thank you once again for your cooperation and flexibility during this time. Despite the leak shortening our week together, the children have returned with positivity and resilience, settling beautifully back into the new term. Classrooms have quickly been filled once more with curiosity, collaboration and purposeful discussion.

During Collective Worship this week, we have been reflecting on the season of Lent. As an important time in the Christian calendar, Lent invites us to pause, reflect and prepare our hearts in the lead-up to Easter. We have talked with the children about how this can be a time for prayer, thoughtful reflection and small intentional changes - whether that means giving something up, giving more to others, or taking up a positive new habit. It has been wonderful to hear their sincere and insightful ideas about how they can grow in kindness, patience and gratitude during this season.

This week’s pupil shoutout quite simply goes to everyone. In what became a 2.5-day week, we certainly had a great deal to fit in and Tuesday’s unexpected events could easily have unsettled us. Instead, our children rose to the occasion with maturity and calmness. They listened carefully, followed instructions promptly and, most importantly, showed genuine care and encouragement towards one another. They reminded us that education is about far more than academic success. They demonstrated resilience, compassion, courage and integrity - qualities that truly reflect the wonderful young people they are. We could not be prouder of them.

We will be celebrating our Stars of the Week on Monday. After such a focused and productive few days, I suspect the teachers will have some very difficult decisions to make!

Chapter 7 of The Mottlesnatch was shared earlier this week - do encourage your children to take part. Not only does it enrich their learning across a range of subjects, but each entry earns a very exciting five house points.

If your child has not yet signed up for the school Talent Show and would like to take part, please email the school admin account to register their interest. We would love to see as many participants as possible.

Dates and Notices

Thursday 5th March: World Book Day
Children are warmly invited to dress up as a character from a book of their choice. We look forward to a wonderful celebration of reading.

Friday 20th March: Red Nose Day
This will be a non-school uniform day. Children are encouraged to wear something red and bring a £1 donation.

There will also be a cake sale after school in the hall, with cakes priced at 50p. On the day, children are invited to bring either shop-bought or home-made cakes to sell. If possible, cakes may be red-themed and must be nut-free.

As we reach the end of this week, we hope you are able to enjoy a restful and restorative weekend. May it offer time to slow down, reconnect and recharge, ready for the week ahead. Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and for the trust you place in us as we nurture and guide your children each day.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”
